Week 1 and 2 Heat Energy Transfer
Task 1 Text Work
Human Endeavour - Temperature
Text Page 101
Complete Note-taking and questions on Temperature Scales.
Heat energy can cause a change in temperature.

Charles' Law and Absolute Zero
Use the graph below to explain the concept of absolute zw
Task 2 Recall the four methods of Heat Transfer
2. Convection
Using a small fish tank filled with water placed over a bowl of hot water and a bowl of ice, the convection currents can be seen using red and blue food dye.
Some examples of the application of convection are shown below. Copy these images. Describe the changes demonstrated in each image below. Explain these changes, using the particle model. |

3. Radiation - Infra-red
Thermographic cameras detect radiation in the infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum (roughly 9,000–14,000 nanometers or 9–14 µm) and produce images of that radiation, called thermograms. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermography).
What do the colours on the images represent?
For each image explain what the colours are showing.
Find one more thermogram that is interesting to you and explain why it is interesting.

Task 4 Practical Activity Testing Insulators
Science Text page 109.
You are to practice the skill of converting this "recipe" practical activity into an Investigation. Use your Report-Writing Template as a guide to setting out your formal Science Report.
On the Right side of your ISN you will write the Science Report.
On the corresponding Left side page you will show the reasoning you used to get to the report-writing stage.
This way you keep the principle of Interactive Notebooking;
